| The Age of Oppression/ Aggression is a folk song from Skyrim. The bards commonly sing it in inns and taverns on cold rainy nights. The Age of Oppression is sung from the Stormcloak point of view. The Stormcloaks are a rebel group against the Empire. They fight to gain Skyrim back to its people: The Nords. The Age of Aggression is sung from the Imperial point of view. The Imperials fight against the Stormcloaks for continued rule over the province of Skyrim. They will do what they can to kill Ulfric Stormcloak, the rebel leader. This version is written to be sung from the point of view of the American colonists in their fight against Great Britain. Just as the people of Skyrim fought against the Imperials to take back their land, so do the colonists. They spilled blood to earn the freedoms that all Americans cherish today. Even though the fight for Skyrim occurred in a game, the concepts and ideals are similar, which is what makes the fifth Elder Scrolls game so exciting and relatable. The original Age of Oppression/Agression is performed by Malukah. Her website is at www.malukah.com. |
We drink to our youth, to the days come and gone.
For the age of oppression is now nearly done.
We'll drive out the Red Coats from this land that we own.
With our blood and our steel we will expel the throne.
Down with George, the tyrannous King!
On the day of your death we will drink and we'll sing.
We're the American people, and we fight all our lives.
And in the fight for freedom, every one of us dies!
But this land is ours and we'll see it wiped clean.
Of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams.
Down with George, the tyrannous King!
On the day of your death we will drink and we'll sing.
We're the American people, and we fight all our lives.
And in the fight for freedom, every one of us dies!
We drink to our youth, to the days come and gone.
For the age of oppression is now nearly done.
